The Reception/Secretarial team which includes Marian Lindsay, Sue Lindsley, Helen King, Maureen Barron and Joan Geddes are all available for general enquires, appointment requests, house calls and repeat prescriptions. DISTRICT NURSE The district nurse Julie Dryden provides a broad range of specialized nursing care to patients. This may be in patients homes, residential accommodation or in the clinic setting of the surgery. The District Nurse works in partnership with the Health Visitor and the Nursing Assistant. She has close links with hospital staff, social services and provides the link to specialist services e.g. home equipment loans, MacMillan Nurse, Continence Service. HEALTH VISITOR The Health Visitor, Anne Burnip sees patients at home or at the Surgery concentrating on families with children under 5, the elderly and coronary heart disease but can can offer health advice to all age groups. PRACTICE NURSES We have a team of nurses who only work within the surgery. Our team comprises of one nurse practitioner , Alison Hand, practice nurse, Joanne Varga and health care assistant Denise Jones. The nurses provide a range of services including supporting people who are making lifestyle changes eg. smoking cessation, obesity management running specialist clinics within the surgery and family planning services. The nurses are also involved with cervical screening, well man/woman checks, travel and baby immunisation, ear syringing and the management of minor injuries. Patients are usually seen by appointment only and the reception staff can make these. MIDWIVES The midwife, together with the doctors and health visitor, provides care throughout pregnancy. Her antenatal-clinic is on Wednesday afternoon between the hours off 1.30pm and 4.00pm. PHLEBOTOMISTS Helen King and Denise Jones are our trained Phlebotomists who hold a clinic 5 days a week between 8.30am and 10.00am and carry out blood tests for patients at the doctors request.
